Whether you’re a journalist-stalking PR rep, an editor looking for fresh talent, or a social media follower who got a little curious about the “she” behind She Dreams of Travel…Welcome! Let’s start with the basics:
Who is this lady and why is she always dreaming of travel?
Well, my newfound internet friends, that would be me, Jessica Poitevien. I'm an international storyteller with more than nine years of experience in writing, editing, and content creation for a variety of publications both online and in print. I got my start in the travel industry in 2013 when I started my blog She Dreams of Travel. Fast forward to the present, and you'll find my work featured in B2B and B2C publications such as AFAR, Insider, Travel+Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Fodor's Travel and TravelAge West, among others.
In my previous work lives, I was an ESL teacher and a study abroad coordinator, but these days, I spend my time writing—from editorial to branded content and beyond—creating social media content, and doing unofficial (for now) travel agent work for many friends, family and even strangers.
I’m an optimist and by default a bit of a procrastinator, but most importantly, I’m a traveler in all senses of the word. Ask me where I’m from and the response will most likely depend on my mood because there is no simple answer for me. Between New York, New Jersey, California, Florida, Spain, and Colombia, I’ve moved thirteen times and counting in my thirty-something years of life. It was essentially impossible for the travel bug not to bite me, and now that it has, I’m dedicated to exploring and sharing stories from around the world.
Travel and storytelling in all its forms are my true passions. Through this new version of She Dreams of Travel, I’ll share my professionally published work, as well as practical tips and more personal writings reminiscent of my early blogging days. I hope it’ll inspire you to get out there and explore the world around you, whether that means acting like a tourist in your hometown or hopping on a plane to unknown lands across the globe.
