Nothing fuels my wanderlust quite like an incredible picture, and I’m guessing it’s the same for you too. Sure, the adventurous tales of friends or strangers on the Internet can inspire our inner travelers, but what usually hooks us are the photos. The photos that take our breath away and make us say… Damn. I need to see that for myself.
A good chunk of the cities and towns I visited in Greece and Italy this past summer were added to my itinerary solely because I had fallen in love with photos of those places. Call me shallow, but a picture is worth a thousand words right?
Cinque Terre was one of those places I visited just for its looks. The first time I saw photos of it years ago I was instantly convinced that I needed to go there. Cinque Terre is a string of five towns off the northwestern coast of Italy. These towns (Corniglia, Manorola, Riomaggiore, Vernazza, Monterosso) are as beautiful as they are small, and their beaches are incredible. These towns are also so close to one another that a hike between them is not only feasible, but it’s also one of the best ways to get around and take in the gorgeous mountaintop views.
The people are friendly and make you feel like family in their town, and like in pretty much all of Italy, the food is to die for, especially the fresh seafood. I could go on and on about these towns and how they live up to all the hype around them, but honestly, I think this is one of those cases when the photos will do more justice than any amount of words could ever do.
So allow me to pay it forward and return the favor that those Cinque Terre photos I saw years ago did for me. Hopefully these photos will convince you to add these towns to your list of must-visit destinations, and if they don’t… Well, either I need to work on my photography or you need to get your eyes checked.
Have you ever been to Cinque Terre? If not, have my photos convinced you to add it to your bucket list?!
